Year in the life of....Mrs. Peterson (Issue 2)

Some may not know Mrs.  Peterson well enough to yet to understand that her personality is more of a grandmother like personality. If you ever need help with anything that relates to North she will at least do her best to answer the questions. When freshman first come up they tend to be clueless and not sure what they are supposed to do. “This year's freshmen class gets an "A" for making the transition to high school without any trauma or drama! They seemed to know where they needed to get to and got there on time from day one! They have settled in and have become involved in things that have piqued their interests,” she said
Now, aside from the freshmen, she has also noticed some changes between this school year and last school year, “The biggest change is in enrollment, most of the freshmen who registered for LHN last spring are here. But we lost a number of upperclassmen who did not return for one reason or another. Also there are new faces on the faculty in Spanish, Mrs. Remy, and girls' P.E., Mrs. Gilbert, both welcomed additions. Some teachers took on new teaching responsibilities and some teachers have moved to new areas in the building,” she said
For Mrs. Peterson and, of course, all of the school office, the beginning of the year is the most stressful. “The start of school is always busy with all the paperwork - checking in NOAH hours, updating records & files, selling goggles for chemistry, & powder puff shirts - typical 'every year' stuff to deal with. As usual, we have awesome office aides who help with the phone calls, mail delivery, and stocking the paper room. For me personally, this year Mr. Reincke assigned me to be the Constant Contact coordinator and I am enjoying my new duty so far,” she said
As always there are different attitudes or maybe the same ones throughout the different school years Mrs. Peterson said she has been noticing these, “Everyone had to adapt to the missing 'minute bell'. There were a few grumblings, but acceptance has set in and seniors especially realize that the minute bell tolls for no one. Caution: be on the lookout for speed zone restrictions. Dress code rules are still being challenged and are dealt with as they are brought to the attention of the administration.,” she said
