Year in the lif of.... Mrs. Peterson (Issue 3)

Its time to count your blessings and prepare for break, for some preparation for this takes longer than others and requires more work. This applies especially for the office. Mrs. Peterson says there is a lot of work ranging anywhere from report card dispensing to preparing for Future Freshman Day and everything in between those.
“For me, it is quite busy before Thanksgiving because I am getting ready for report card pick-up and Future Freshmen Day. When parents don’t come in to pick up the report card, it means even more work because then I have to mail it along with the next year's registration card. As the semester ends, report cards are printed, stuffed in envelopes, and mailed to parents. I usually get ONE day to get this done - fun!” stated Mrs. Peterson.
Despite all that after Thanksgiving passes things get a little less hectic although they can still be stressful “After Thanksgiving, things calm down as we get into the excitement of Christmas. On the last day before Christmas break, we have our office party with our special treats for them to eat & drink. Mrs. LeFevre has the whole break off and I may take one or two days away from school, but usually I am here trying to clear off my desk and getting ready for everyone to come back all rested and raring to go for finals.” stated Mrs. Peterson.
The biggest task before Thanksgiving break is Future Freshman Day “The task that is pressing before Thanksgiving is all the preparation for Future Freshmen Day. Future Freshmen Day preparation is hectic because I usually don’t get the materials for the packets until the day before!! So I'm hustling to collate and make the packets look presentable in too short a time! We are trying to put our best foot forward for the 300+ 8th graders and parents that will visit on that day.  Mr. Reincke and the counselors have to make sure all the changes are made to the pages that are included in the packet that is handed out. Then I have to coordinate it with the person who designs and gets them ready for the printer. And then I sweat it out until the boxes of materials are delivered and I can put them into the folders.” stated Mrs. Peterson
Upon returning from the break there are different attitudes that run through the school that last until about after finals, “I can tell that some students are ready for Christmas by how hyper they are, yet bored at the same time; and waiting to get away from here anticipating all the fun things they've planned for the break . Coming back from break, they tend to be concerned about not being ready for finals; and do a lot of complaining about the fact that they wish finals would have been given before Christmas.” stated Mrs. Peterson.
